Cobalt Compounds


     Cobalt compounds are commonly used for colored glass, paints, rubber, inks, and more. Cobalt has a lot of compounds, including Cobalt(II) bromide. This compound is an inorganic compound, a red solid, and dissolves in water. Cobalt(II) bromide is often used as a catalyst in certain processes. The formula for Cobalt(II) bromide is: CoBr2. Another cobalt compound is cobalt(II) nitrite. Coballt(II) nitrite is a redish brown color and dissolves in alcohol. The formula for cobalt(II) nitrite is Co(No3)2. This compound is commonly used to reduce metallic cobalt.
